History and Mission

Burgess Building Company was founded in 1995 by Philip Burgess, who had already been serving the construction community for over 25 years. Phil Burgess founded the company to continue to service a specific niche that was and still is needed in Oklahoma. Bryan and Angie Sewell now own the company. Burgess Company has established an office in Tulsa to more effectively service the needs of the Eastern Oklahoma market. Burgess Company continues to actively pursue Phil's vision and mission to provide unparalleled products and services to our customers.


Burgess Company strives to be a "Golden Rule" company by treating its customers, vendors, employees and community in the same manner in which we would like to be treated. We will exemplify this culture by providing unsurpassed services of professionalism, integrity, honesty and quality in all of our dealings. Bryan Sewell

President/Owner

Bryan retired from the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 2019 as a Master Sergeant after spending 20 years as a military air traffic controller.   He began his career with Burgess Company as a project manager in 2021.  Bryan has heavy highway, residential, and commercial construction experience spanning more than 17 years.  Bryan and Angie purchased the company in December, 2023 after working for the previous owner.

Angie Sewell

Vice President/Owner

Angie has more than 20 years of accounting experience. She is the co-owner of Burgess Company and has managed the office staff, accounting, and human resources for the past 10 years.

Jace Kennedy

Senior Estimator

Jace graduated from Oklahoma University and is a world traveler. He has been with Burgess Company for over 15 years and is an expert in Raised Access Floor, Operable Partitions, Unistrut, Kalwall, Air Fixture, Modular Power systems, Wire Mesh, and many other specialty products. Jace regularly consults directly with local architects, engineers, and general contractors to ensure product compatibility and viability.

Dusty Schuler

Architectural Consultant

Dusty Schuler brings over two decades of expertise in the construction and architectural industries to his role at Burgess Company. As an Architectural Consultant specializing in business development, Dusty works closely with clients to ensure their visions are brought to life with precision and excellence. His deep understanding of architectural design, coupled with his passion for building strong client relationships, drives the success of each project he oversees.

 

Dusty is a citizen of the Muscogee Creek and Cherokee Nations and serves as the state treasurer for the American Indian Chamber of Commerce. His commitment to Native American business development is reflected not only in his professional life but also in his active participation in the local community.

 

Prior to his career in architecture and business, Dusty was a professional bull rider, competing in both PBR and PRCA events. His resilience, honed during years in the arena, is reflected in his approach to his work today. Outside of the office, Dusty enjoys spending time with his wife Jessica, a former Miss Rodeo Washington, and their four sons.

Ryan Mitchell

Sales Manager

Ryan has more than 18 years of commercial construction experience with the Burgess Company in estimating and project management. Ryan has dedicated much of his career to becoming an expert in life safety products (fire doors & smoke containment curtains), life safety building codes and space division (operable partitions). He currently oversees the service and maintenance division. He inspects, quotes, and manages service projects across the state of Oklahoma for all of our products.

Mark Reed

Senior Project Manager

Mark started his career with Burgess Company in 2016. He began as a field installer, moved up to foreman, and was hand-selected to move into the office as a project manager. His experience in the field has given him the insight needed to properly plan, organize, and schedule all aspects of our installations. He estimates our McKeon and Smokeguard products. He is manufacturer trained on operable walls, coiling doors, and smoke curtains.

Amy Roe

Administrative Assistant

Amy has been with Burgess Company for 2 years and continues to expand her knowledge in construction accounting, payroll, and contract administration.
